Tempany was born in Melbourne on March 2,1978. She grew up living on the outskirts of the city with her parents and older sister. She became interested in acting when she was 11 and joined a local theatre group. She joined an agency almost straight away and soon landed her first professional role- a young girl asking the "awkward" questions in a sex education video.
Then she had a guest role on RFDS, a couple of walk-on roles in NEIGHBOURS and did some work on corporate and educational videos. But her most famous role was playing "Selina" in HOME AND AWAY she stayed with the show for four years and left in 1997, then she hit the Big Apple for her adult training. Where She studied at the prestigious Herbert Berghoff studio in New York City as an actor and playwright. Her roles for the American and Australian small screens include "The Flying Doctors", "Home and Away", "All Saints", "First Daughter", "Curse of the Talisman" & "The Secret Life of Us".
She lit up the stage in "Direct From Broadway", and was a finalist for her play "The Tanty" in a David Williamson/Nick Enright young playwrights competition. Becoming a household name as a child star opened many doors for Tempany. Not only was she carving a great path for her acting career, she was also modeling for photo shoots, presenting TV shows and major events, traveling all over the country and the world for publicity appearances and last but not least, starting her adult career surrounded with many talented and famous people.
She has been involved with Scholastic Books Australia and MacMillan Publishing writing books for young adults including "The Shooting Star", "X-Zone", "Radio Rebels" & "The Fashion Police"
Since leaving Home & Away back in 1997 Tempany has continued on with her acting in short films for AFTRS titled "Melancholy" by award winning Sam Meikle & "Famed", short film "Horror Movie" by Emily Lawrence and feature film "Incurable Romantic" by Kathy Armstrong. She had a small part in Anthony Hayes feature film "New Skin" and returned to Australia in 2007 to be in Kath Shelper's "Jackie Jackie" for the indigenous film festival.
While living in LA she continues to write children and adult fiction books and also for stage and screen, And still had time to do 2 more short films in LA including Christine Crokos' film "Love Thy Neighbor" with Alex Dimitriades and "No Pink" written and directed by Anne Walls. In addition to that she also features in the new Commonwealth Bank Australia Campaign "Determined To Be Different" created by renowned marketing agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners
Tempany recently scored her first US feature film called "Oral Fixation/Rachel Marks" written & directed by Jake Cashill, this will be released later on in 2008.. And if that's not enough she has been involved in the LA theatre industry where she has written, acted or collaborated in plays "Cosmos Decency", "Wakey Wakey", "Printed Matter", & "Seduced" and has worked with critically acclaimed writers Jim Uhls & Blake Herron.
